Woo, Mothers, okay. 15th, we're gonna have Evergreen. We're both gonna be out of the studio. Yeah, I gotta see if I can play with that. I'm gonna work on it. Um the 22nd is gonna be a show about Memorial Day. Yes. 23rd, sorry. So then the 30th, there's gonna be a guest speaker because Fred is playing hooky for two weeks in a row. So it's gonna be me and somebody else on the 30th, and then me and somebody else on the 6th. And then we're hoping to be back to somewhat normal programming on the 13th. Yes. But there's also gonna be primary results that we'll probably go over as well. So it might be abbreviated constitution, but it'll be a over like a month and a half before we get back to the constitution. So if you guys needed a break, here's your break. Here's your break. Give me a break. So can we say that? We can. I didn't say what it was.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. What is that?

SPEAKER_01

We're not big enough, dude.

SPEAKER_00

What is that jingle?

SPEAKER_01

Nobody helped us me. I love that show. I was trying to think of it when the jingles, but I can't right now. So, buddy, how was your week? It was a pretty good week.

SPEAKER_00

It was long. Um the uh I can't even think of what happened. A lot of uh just work, everything's priority, everything is get it done now for multiple different areas, different people. And uh, you know, tip of the hat, kudos to the guys. They're they're stepping up, doing what they gotta do. Um we were able to cut out a little early today, so that was nice. Um and then home life, uh, things are good. How's your grass? My grass. I'm mowed. There you go. Uh a little early still, and a lot of a lot of spots was early. Um but yeah, it was a little early, but um nonetheless, it's alright. It's still growing and everything, so that's fine. The uh the kids we had two the younger two are kind of drainage and stuff, and a lot of that I blame on the weather with the fluctuation of cold, hot, cold, hot, and uh then we had earaches. Those are always fun, you know, because in the middle of the night they wake up just screaming, so that was fun. Um my wife really did a good job. Uh you know, she would try and get the kids to go to sleep and stuff and stay with them and try to let me sleep as much as possible. Um but if she was with one of them, I would I would probably be with the other, and they would still wake up coughing in the middle of the night. So it's amazing. I don't know about your kids, but my kids like throughout the day, they don't worry about breathing out of their nose as much. But as soon as they go to bed, like it just like scares them that they can't breathe out of their their nose. So it's like, dude, you breathe out of your mouth all the time, but when it's bedtime, so it just it made for longer days, um, or I should say nights. Um but weather, I can't complain anything about the weather this week. It's been really like cooler mornings, which I like, but then it warms up and it gets really nice and stuff. So um obviously this weekend's Mother's Day, so just gonna try and make it kind of special, spend time with my mom. And um this Sunday we haven't really planned as far as my kids telling me. The older two kind of have told me what they want to do. So we got that all planned out, and because my wife listens, we can't really say what that is yet. Right. So you have to wait. So, but um, yeah. Definitely kind of looking forward to next week. Um be good. Get some family time and it'd be fun. So cool. Yeah, how's your week?

SPEAKER_01

It was uh it was pretty good, I must say. Um the weather's been nice, like you said. I was able to run in the mornings. It was a little cold, but uh yeah, it worked out just fine. It was better than 30 degree mornings.

SPEAKER_00

I've been running too, but it's more in the evening. Yeah, dude. Dude, I good job, buddy. I ran back, I started back on Sunday, and it was just like I forgot how much like running can be a whole body exercise. So that's so taxing, too. Do you run sidewalks? Yep, dude. I can't do that anymore. It's really starting to hurt.

SPEAKER_01

You you want to hear something? I can run and it's fine. Pushing my lawnmower, my hips are like done. Even just chilling in my yard, going slow, nothing big. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They're just done. I'm I have a good pair, a decent pair of running shoes, and they do a lot, like absorbing the shock and stuff, but I I don't know, man. Just the sidewalks are terrible around where I live, too. So yeah. I try to run in the grass, but then I kind of feel bad. I shouldn't. I wouldn't.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah. But yeah, no, good on you. Um so yeah, been running and stuff, and um Cole's doing great potty training. He's doing awesome. Um, not really had I think he's had like one bad day. Usually you'll have a couple of those. We're we're actively in that, yeah. Yeah, yeah. And um new word this week, and I love it. I wish I would have got a recording because I would have just played it on the show. But he's saying baby, which is one of those things. Um, the girl, she's doing great, and um she got a bike. I think I said that on here. Maybe I didn't. She had a bike, but she's all about the bike. So that was a good thing. Her and her brother were fighting over a bike. So then we're like, yeah, you need to graduate, and he can have the little red rider. And um, yeah. So she's doing great on that. Mama's teaching them. Yeah, I can't complain.

SPEAKER_00

Our uh our van is showing that we have children that ride bikes. So yeah. But I'm glad my kids they love riding their bikes, and then Did I tell about we got the the one without pedals, that bike, it's supposed to help keep balancing and stuff. I think and like she was like, it's not a bike, it doesn't have pedals. Like she was so mad, and now like she keeps up with the other kids and stuff, like it's she's a champ on that. But now the youngest one, she's wanting to start riding. Right. But like she didn't even know that she's as little as she is, she's about to be two, so like she thinks she's a you know, one of the big kids.

SPEAKER_01

She wants to catch up, yeah. She doesn't want to be left behind, yeah. So speaking as the baby of the family, it was always trying to catch up with everybody else. Yeah. Always had older friends, yeah. Yeah. So but enough about us. It's not for us, it's for you, moms. Let's celebrate Mother's Day, shall we? Mother's Day. If you didn't know, Mother's Day is Sunday, so just warning you. You better you better take care of your mom. So we wanted to do a fun show for Mother's Day. Moms, in my opinion, are great. Without our moms, we wouldn't be here now, would we? We wouldn't. So, I personally wanted to start off the show and uh wanted to say thank you to two important ladies in my life. We have my mom. Just wanted to say thank you for being my biggest supporter, my biggest fan, for everything that you've done. Thank you for also choosing to have me. Um nowadays there's a lot of moms that don't choose to have their kids. And uh, so I'm thankful you and dad chose to have me. And to my wonderful wife, just thank you. Thank you for the wonderful mom you've been taking care of our kids, potty training, teaching them how to speak, working so many hours, you're almost raising them on your own, and you're doing a heck of a job. So thank you, sweetheart. I love ya. And uh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I would like to say thank you as well to my mom, um, because she was definitely a constant in my life, and uh I don't know, a lot of stability. Um uh yeah, had her hands full a lot of the times with uh my siblings and I, my brothers, and um yeah, just uh you know definitely knew that she loved us no matter what, and um yeah, definitely love and appreciate um you raising us and and taking care of us. Um lot of sacrifices my mom made for us to be where we're at. Um so yeah, definitely appreciate that. Uh so happy Mother's Day and to my wife who is taking care of all of our children, um from homeschooling them to you know being there to take care of them when they're sick, like I said earlier, the the late nights, um trying to get it to where I can sleep to be able to function at work, um uh just uh some some days it is very thankless, and uh you know, even just simple things like cooking all the meals, you know. Um I definitely love and appreciate my wife and the mother that she is, and um yeah, hopefully we honor her very well in our house.

SPEAKER_01

Um and just yeah, love and appreciate you. So it's uh it's things like Mother Day's Mother's Day that you wish you had like just money to blow, right? Um because sometimes when you have to be on a budget or whatever, it just it kind of makes you feel like man, I'm not I'm not doing you justice at all for all the time you spend.

SPEAKER_00

So that's why whenever you see like professional athletes, you know, they get their contract and they buy their mom a brand new house or something, you know, and that's there's something about um most boys or guys, men, and their moms where they just want to make sure that they're taken care of. And I think it's because a lot of their childhood that that by and large across the board, I mean there are outliers and exceptions, but we're not talking about that today. We're talking about most homes have a mom, and that mom is sacrificing for those children. So, yeah, that's why whenever they make it, you know, a lot of these athletes, the first thing they'll do is buy their mama a house or a car or whatever they want it.

SPEAKER_01

So if I ever get some money, we're buying the arcade game mama. But it wouldn't be a holiday show without some lists, facts, and some buy-seller holding. So, let's jump right on in. Get on in there. Let's talk some facts, shall we? We got this list of fun facts from TownandCountrymag.com. It looked girly, so I assume it's all for you ladies, alright? First off, Mother's Day isn't always on the same day each year. And I assume because I'm not a mom, I didn't really realize this. Alright? The holiday is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of the month of May. This year it's gonna be on May 12th, which is also my sister's birthday. I think that's the 10th.

unknown

I think it's the 10th.

SPEAKER_01

Oh junk. I think it's the Today's the 8th, 9th, 10th. Yeah, so it's five from 2025. Thanks, Townandcountrymag.com. Ah, throw it all out. But yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I don't like holidays that switch like that. Like I I like, of course, it it's because it's always on a Sunday. Father's Day is the same way. But yeah, I don't know. I wish it was that irks me. I have number two, more calls are made on Mother's Day than any other day of the year. I did not know that. No, I didn't know that either. Makes sense though. Makes sense. I feel like by and large, you have a better relationship with your mother than you do, like your dad.

SPEAKER_01

Probably definitely like um like phone call worthy, right? Like, dad, I need some help. Like, can you help me out with this thing? Or hey dad, I need some advice, or it's just like mom, mom's there to talk. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I'm supposed yep, sorry, there's more to it. Uh reportedly there are approximately 122 million calls that are made on the second Sunday of May, which is Mother's Day every year.

SPEAKER_01

On the 10th this year, not the 12th. Mother's Day is the third highest selling holiday for flowers and plants. Valentine's Day might get the roses, but after Christmas and Hanukkah, more people buy flowers and plants for their moms on Mother's Day than any other holiday. That's kind of cheating, isn't it? They lumped Christmas and Hanukkah together. I don't I don't really know how much Hanukkah gets for flowers, but it still bumps pads and numbers a little bit. They're trying to be inclusive. Indeed, approximately one quarter of all the flowers purchased throughout the year are bought on Mother's Day. Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Most flowers in the garden you plant Mother's Day, I guess.

SPEAKER_01

Random question. Have you ever been given flowers before? I don't think so. I have. My daughter did this year.

SPEAKER_00

So I don't think I have.

SPEAKER_01

And my son was sick and she wanted to buy him flowers too. I obviously took it as a very nice gesture, but I didn't know how to take it because it's never been offered to me before.

SPEAKER_00

So I've I've seen this video, and I don't know if it's viral or not, and I don't even know where I saw it. Probably Facebook. Yeah. But uh yeah, I can say that. Um but this little girl buys her dad flowers and he kind of tears up, and it's because the note she wrote him was um basically like, Daddy, I wanted to give you flowers before you the only time most men receive flowers is when they're dead. So it's like, dang, that's a little morbid, but yeah, I I like the gesture.

SPEAKER_01

I just I didn't like I said, never gotten them before. I didn't know how to really take it on internally.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. I don't know how I would take it because I would be like, oh, like if it was one of my daughters, I feel like I would or my son even, I would feel like, let's give that to your mom. I like the look of flowers in the home and everything. Um I just don't know. I mean, obviously it's something I've never really gotten, so I don't know. Yeah, I don't I don't know how that would I don't know what my natural reaction would be. Right. Right. Um is this mine? I'm I've totally lied. Alright, so number four, one of the earliest Mother Day, Mother's Day celebrations was in ancient Greece. The Greeks would have spring celebrations in honor of Yeah. Ray Ray, the goddess of fertility, motherhood, and generation.

SPEAKER_02

Cool.

SPEAKER_01

Go Greeks. Yeah. Normally Mother's Day is the busiest day of the year for restaurants. According to a survey by the National Restaurant Association, as much as 48% of people make plans to go to a restaurant for Mother's Day, which also makes sense because why make mom don't make mom clean up do work on her day.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you're honoring her. My wife doesn't understand, like she would rather stay home and everybody does everything that she would normally do, and she just gets to relax instead of the hustle bustle of especially with younger kids, it's a lot. Yes, you know, yeah. So well with your baseball team, yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

My uh, yeah. The monkier mom moniker moniker mom comes from babies. Uh the first thing most babies have, or most babies can vocalize is ma or the ma sound, which is why all in almost every language the word for mother begins with the letter M or is some Yeah. Which I also did not know that either. I did not. Did both of your children say mom first? My wife is gonna remember better than I will.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not sure. I think I got two of five that said dad first. So I do remember. Sorry. I remember Clear's Day. There was just one random day, it was on my birthday. My daughter was super young. I think she might have been like one. I don't think she was two, but maybe she was two. But Clear as Day said, I love you, and then I didn't hear it for like the longest time after that. I'm just like, how'd you put all that together, you know? That that's one of those early things that I remembered. Um, the history of American Mother's Day starts with peacemaker Anne Jarvis. Okay, so during and following the Civil War, Anne Jarvis made a concerted effort to foster friendship and community between the mothers on both sides of the war. She started a committee in 1868 which established the first glimmer of today's holiday, Mother's Friendship Day. Which I feel like that's um that's good on her. At the end of the day, just realizing they're your boys on both sides.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. I think uh that's definitely a proof that a lot of moms will put a lot of stuff aside and uh out of love for their kids and stuff. So Anne's daughter, Anna, continued her legacy by creating the official holiday. Anna Reeves Reeves Jarvis sought to honor her by her own mother by establishing an intimate day of uh observance. That is very obvious obviously the basis of today's holiday. The very first Mother's Day was celebrated in nineteen oh eight.

SPEAKER_01

Hundred and eighteen years ago. That's crazy. And Woodrow Wilson signed Mother's Day into law in 1914. After Anna Jarvis created the Mother's Day International Association in order to streamline the intimate day of observance, the second Sunday in May, Woodrow Wilson legitimized the celebration as a nationwide holiday.

SPEAKER_00

10 is pretty cool. Carnations have a special meaning on Mother's Day. Anna Jarvis used the carnation on Mother's Day to symbolize whether your mother was living, a red carnation meant she was, whereas a white carnation meant she passed away. I feel like that would be kind of cool to bring back. I do remember in elementary school getting carnations for my mom would have been the Friday before Mother's Day. And then I guess it would have been, I don't know, sometime. I would just buy them. Like they were like a dollar carnation. It was a lot of money back then. You missed your money by it. You were in school and you had money? Yeah, like I don't know where I got it from, but yeah. So I think I only did it a few times. And then I I don't know. I can't remember. Maybe maybe it was Valentine's Day. But I know I bought them and I given my mom. It was just it was just one. You know, distill. Yeah. And they were red. So good on you. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't know all that, but yeah. Okay, so this part's sad. So we've been following Anna here a little bit, right? Anna Jarvis. So Anna Jarvis would later try to stop what Mother's Day became. The holiday quickly became a commercialized opportunity for producers to sell flowers, candies, and cards. Anna Jarvis felt this was detracting from the personal and intimate aspects of the holiday and defied this by starting boycotts, walkouts, and even condemned First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt for using this day as a means of fundraising. Which I feel like that's what we tend to do as people. We we ruin it. Yeah. We we can't just um oh my goodness. Um we can't just enjoy the little bit we have. We just got to indulge and over-indulge in something, and then ruin it.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and it also, you know, the greed. Uh let's take advantage of this. It's a good thing, so let's let's just jump in on it.

SPEAKER_01

So the sad part was that Jarvis would eventually use all of her money in this fight, and she died at the age of 84 in a sanitarium. Hmm.

SPEAKER_00

In 2023, over $35 billion was spent on Mother's Day. I agree. On average, shoppers plan to spend $274 on gifts for their mothers according to the National Retail Federation.

SPEAKER_01

Not that I'm gonna put my money out there, but like this is when I wish I had some money, man. Well, and it's funny because it says that they planned on spending that much.

SPEAKER_00

Plan is a key word. Well, I mean, you can plan on spending 274, but like, you know, how we talked with Jack about Christmas and how we plan to spend this much on a kid and we splurge, you know.

SPEAKER_01

So I feel like I bring that average down. Maybe this will go into the next one. So the most popular gift, actually, for Mother's Day, is the greeting card. Five bucks every Mother's Day. There are approximately 152 million Mother's Day cards sent. It's a lot of cards.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. That's definitely a good way to phrase that. Plan. However, flowers still remain the most popular gift option, with about 72% of Americans opting for floral pre a floral present. Why not get mom both? I feel like that's a shameless pattern. Town and country maybe. Yeah. Thank you. I will say this about flowers. The nice thing is like if your mom or mother-in-law doesn't live in this state, then flowers are a more versatile delivery services and stuff like that. Otherwise, you gotta there's a lot of trust on somebody to deliver jewelry.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So, yeah. And I in our household, my wife is getting quite the little green thumb. So now I would even love to just buy her a plant rather than just flowers so she has something that's year-round. But then I have to do more landscaping too, so which that becomes a gift too. Yeah, I don't got a truck to take all the Multraway and the red lava rock. Dude, I'm not sure. It's Mother's Day weekend, man. It's not gonna happen Saturday.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean, you can work on that. I have to do stuff in fall. You can work on that throughout. I have to do that stuff in fall. There's a there's a free landfill day and uh third Saturday of each month. Yeah. Do you take mulch to that place? They have a separate that one is down by the river.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Down by the river. Is uh that's where all the like landscaping and how about lava rocks? I think you can dump that there. You might even be able to throw that up on marketplace. I don't know. The only hard thing about that is I don't like marketplace. I don't like that. It's so sketchy. There are sketchy stuff, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It it's got its place. I'm sorry. Not about us, it's about you, moms. Many women are waiting before they become mothers. According to a 2022 report, the average age for a first-time mother in the United States hit 30 for the first time.

SPEAKER_00

Do you want to know why a little bit of this? There's some facts that play into it, and a lot of it is because the whole belief, and there was like questionable um like outdated medieval data that said like if you become a mom later, then your your chances of losing your life, I guess, um, as a mother during the labor process goes up significantly. But they never retouch that survey as medical advancements happened and everything, and like so it's like, yeah, that's not really the case. So some of it is, yes, more people are career driven, career focused, mothers are feminine. Yeah, that's the way I thought you were gonna go. But no, a lot of some of it is because like women are like they were told and taught early on that like you got like 10 years and that's it. Once those are up, you're you better have all the kids you want and have, you know.

SPEAKER_01

But I thought it might be on the dudes too, because dudes nowadays are waiting to move out, some of it's marrying, own a house.

SPEAKER_00

Some of it's that, some of it's the career, some of it's the consumer debt, some of it's school debt. I mean, a lot of variable things, but yeah, I just yeah. Beauty salons and spas also get a Mother's Day boost.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know why. Because our mothers are pretty enough, they don't need to go to a salon or a spa. Spa but I digress.

unknown

Spa name.

SPEAKER_00

According to National Retail Federation, again, on Mother's Day, people will spend two billion dollars on a personal service like a spa treatment for their mothers.

SPEAKER_01

I bought my wife a spa afternoon. Yeah, it was it was wasted money. Yeah. I think the massage person bruised her, and then um when they were doing her hair, it was bad. No, it was the makeup. The makeup was bad. Yeah. It's kind of how I feel whenever I go and get my hair cut at the uh barbershop or whatever, and they're like, Can I do your hair for you? Most of them like no, because you guys don't know how to do hair. Terrible at it. You just guys throw the clay in there and you just looks horrible. You get it with the jazzy hands. Yes. We thought we'd throw uh another list of songs about mom. Many of these I don't know. Uh Fred does not know many of these either, but I figured it'd at least be fun just to throw them up to you. And maybe a Jackson 5 song, and you'll be like, hey, I know that one. So first one is Let It Be by the Beatles. And apparently Paul McCartney wrote this for his late mother who died. I did not know that. I didn't need it. Then again, I can't hear lyrics either, so I didn't even know it was about his mom. Yeah, I didn't need it. I know he talks about Mother Mary, but I didn't anyway. So another one was Mom by Earth, Wind and Fire. Um, have no clue. Alright. So number three, on my mama. Now this one was fun. I haven't listened to it yet, but it looked like it was hip hop slash rap. Uh the chick's name is Victoria Monet. And she talks about her own motherhood as she wrote this track with her postpartum depression, which is a real thing. Yeah. Not to make light of it. Yeah. Mama song by Carrie Underwood, number four. This song describes the bond between mother and daughter. Number five, Mama Like the Roses by Elvis Presley. Never, never heard about this one. He said, Well, Mama, I love ya. Thank you. Thank you for watching. He was vulnerable, it says, by describing his mother's memories, who often did not get the time to meet her children on holidays. Next one is The Best Day by Taylor Swift, which this is a very happy song, I feel like. It always seemed happy to me.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So the song beautifully depicts the timeline with the memories as a toddler, a teenager, and an adult pop star as well. If you guys didn't know, Taylor Swift is a music artist. Pretty big and famous. I just thought she was Travis Kelsey's.

SPEAKER_00

Oh never mind.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, don't start that. There's some dudes that just want to watch the game just because Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey. There's dudes that do that? There's dudes.

SPEAKER_02

Huh.

SPEAKER_01

Number seven, a song for Mama by Boys the Men. Yeah. Yeah. Little R and B right there. Yes. Mama's Broken Heart by Miranda Lambert. It sounds like this one was uh the clashing thoughts of a mother and daughter regarding a breakup are beautifully explained in this song. Mother by John Lennon. Uh I guess it describes his his mother, both her presence and absence in his life. And then last but not least, we have Mama's Pearl by the Jackson 5. And I don't. I mean, I don't know. The description said it's a blissful and bright track that feels like sunshine, just like a mother's presence. Now I don't know if it's actually a mama song or if the tune just makes you feel like it's you know what I mean? The wording? Kind of throw me off. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

So there's a there's a little list of ten songs. I was looking through some lists, man. It was just like some random. I know this is kind of random, but at least I've heard of these people, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I yeah. I don't think I've ever really thought to look up any songs really about mom. I don't know. I don't know. Maybe that makes me a bad son.

SPEAKER_01

But I don't know. Because like my mother is also um she's not the music type. I would say in this fashion. So even if I found a really nice song, I don't think she'd even really probably mind it too much. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So I don't know. Check them out. Maybe you'll find one.

SPEAKER_01

You play it Sunday for your mom. I don't know. So mama's pearl.

SPEAKER_02

Mama's pearl.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, last. Well, no, not last. Excuse me. Let's do some buy, sell, or hold. Cha-chang. Okay. So Forbes.com has a list of gifts for mom. Let's see what they have. Buy, sell, or hold style. Okay, man. A beautiful bouquet to brighten her day.

SPEAKER_00

So for clarify for clarification. For our mom? Yes. I'm going to sell. My mom likes the idea of flowers, but she does not like flowers because her allergies. My mom is getting that way too with her allergies.

SPEAKER_01

She would rather the money get spent some other way. Because my dad used to buy her flowers and present them to her, but he doesn't know because of that. Yeah. Secondly, a Mother's Day gift basket. Which is very generalized. Very general.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. I don't know what would be in there per se, but she would rather have that than flowers.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So. I could hook my mom up with some candy and she'd be happy. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe some bubble bath, maybe uh shower cap. Shower cap. Back scratcher. Hook her up. Yeah. Yeah. How about an LED contour face mask? I really don't know. It looks like a Jason's hockey mask and red.

SPEAKER_00

I've seen these. I don't think my mom would do that. That's like a skincare routine doohickey. I don't think she would.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think my mom wants the mask either, so I'd sell that. A nice purse or handbag. Or maybe a satchel. It's not a bad thing. You know Indiana Jones wore one, right? Stay tough, carry your stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I I maybe a handbag, maybe. But it'd be like for her Bible on church days. So. I believe I bought my mom.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's it was supposed to be a purse, but it's the size of a bag. That's what it's what she wanted. Um I bought that I feel like for her birthday one year. So I wouldn't be against that. I don't think she'd be against it either, so I'd buy that. How about a nice digital picture frame?

SPEAKER_00

So I I think they have one. I really don't know if they know how to upload to them. I bet your dad does. I'm sure he does, but I I would I think I would get her pictures to put in the digital picture frame, but I would love this idea, but I would do the uh TV.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And then she just have to find a nice open wall to put it on.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I feel like you can just buy a thin TV and just put your USB stick on it and it'll work. Yeah. Yeah. And you can buy a frame and put a frame around it too. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Classic cheese and charcuterie board sell.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like Arby's. We have the meat. This would be this would be a gift that I would give her, but like she would re-gift it right away to my kids. So, yeah, no.

SPEAKER_01

The gift that keeps on giving. A mama necklace. Now, this was kind of like something more personalized. Maybe it says mama on there. I know like my wife had gotten her one that has bars and it had the name of each kid. She got bars. Yeah. She got bars. She's not sharing them with me though.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I I don't think I don't think my mom I don't know. I don't I don't really think she wears a lot of jewelry. I don't know. I feel like if I got it for her, just kind of set it. She'd wear it for a while and then maybe. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I think my mom would like it, so I'd buy. A portable massage gun. Yeah, it'd sell too. Some cozy PJs. Which is weird. Yep. A plush bathrobe. Cell. Not even customized thread? Nope. Nope. Nope. Pass as well. A faux fur blanket.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah, maybe. I don't know. Some type of blanket for sure. I don't. I mean, I could see her liking that. Maybe.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. If I could do one like my sister did for my dad, had some uh customized pictures on it, that would be that'd be the way to go. So I'd buy that one. Personalized photo art. I don't really know what that means. So the example they gave was a nice picture frame, and it had like a heart on the inside. Well, the heart was made up by pictures of maybe mom and her kids, like maybe Polaroids, stuff like that. So something that's personalized with your photo art in it. Yeah, maybe, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I think my mom would love that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I feel like my mom would love something like I mean not you, but grandkids. Yeah, like their hand print or whatever in their picture. Yeah, that she would like that.

SPEAKER_01

Let's go on to a monogram stationary pad. I don't think so. I don't yeah, I'm gonna sell it as a bad idea. It's like if she needs something that bad, I'll just get her sticky notes, like give her something better with my money than a monogram stationary pad.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think she needs it.

SPEAKER_01

A scrapbook. Not the actual just book, but actually doing the work. Like me doing the work? Or like you doing the work? No, you putting the scrapbook together for her. It's a gift that keeps on giving. You don't just give her the book and say go at it.

SPEAKER_00

No, yeah, I don't uh I don't know. I don't know if she would. I don't know. I never even thought to do this, then like um I I just I don't know. Uh I think she would like it. I don't know if it would be like her favorite thing. I don't know. I think what she would rather have is me to be over there looking at pictures with her or her grandkids looking at pictures with her more of the time, not like time of me by myself putting together. She would appreciate the time I'd put into a scrapbook because it is a lot of time, and she knows that. But I think she would be like, I would have rather looked through these pictures with you.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna buy, I think my mom would love this idea if I did that for her. A cupcake box or cookie assortment. No, she wouldn't. I would say if I could get something like not like crumble, that's too generic. There's a place called Kexi. Free advertisement for you guys. Um, I believe it's Pat Gray, who used to be a co-host with Glenn Beck. They're still close friends, um, on the same media network together still. He started a cookie company. But of course, I can't afford just to buy their cookies. So, but something like that, I think it would be fun. Me and her would probably share a box or something. Well, there was that one place locally.

SPEAKER_00

Scratch? Yep. I don't even know if they're still around, but I don't think they are.

SPEAKER_01

I know, I know they were a bit the one out Westamoin? Yeah, yeah, they're not. Around, I believe. Because I just asked my mom randomly about it. Like I thought she liked those. Yeah, I thought we went out there. Yeah. The high V's up in their game with cupcakes, so yeah. Um premium? Alright, premium here. Preserves. What? Glass jars. Like JM.

SPEAKER_00

So like jelly. I'd get her, I got her honey. Uh like honey is I would get her honey.

SPEAKER_01

If that counts as a preserve, I don't know if it counts as a well would you buy seller whole? Is that something you'd get for her for Mother's Day? Yeah, you mean preserve that? Like honey.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. I don't know if there's honey gonna fall into it. I'll I'll let it count.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because Yeah, because I feel like you know preserve it. It's not the same thing. Honey never goes bad if it's like real honey. Real stuff. So um I'm gonna sell. Yeah. I think my mom could do without the jelly, probably. She'd probably be like, why are you buying me jarred jelly? I can just go to Walmart. Yeah, I'll go buy. Let's go with a tennis bracelet. I don't even know what it like a little sweatband. Nice, nice little diamond silver bracelet. Oh, see, I was thinking like no sheep can we can we do that again, please? I just try I try to I just try to hit the ball low at you.

SPEAKER_00

I don't even try, man. I don't I don't make that noise though. But they say if you make that noise, you're 12 times stronger than your natural strength without it. 12 times? I don't believe that.

SPEAKER_01

One time stronger? Maybe I'd believe that. So no, I'm selling on that one, dude. My mom is a she can yeah, she wears jewelry, but like the one bracelet I remember us getting her or she had gotten was um like a charm bracelet. So that's different than a tennis bracelet. So I don't think she necessarily be a tennis bracelet gal.

SPEAKER_00

I still I feel like she doesn't she have like the Pandora bracelet.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but kind of like that stuff, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Um so I guess sell for me. Um how about a smart mug as compared to a dumb one?

SPEAKER_00

Well, is the smart mug those mugs that like it looks like it's all white, and then you pour the hot liquid in and then it says like you're awesome, Mom. No. Self-stirring?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I think it was somehow, I'm sure it has a plate of some sort that it sits on, but I think it's connected to Wi-Fi, so it's probably just letting you know temperatures of stuff why you need I I don't know, I'm just the messenger, okay?

SPEAKER_00

I think the idea of a smart mug is my mom would not like that. However, I think a smart mug if if it basically can monitor your coffee to keep it warm, because mom's like never drink warm coffee, but at the same time I feel like my mom would not like the idea that the internet is keeping her coffee warm.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and my mom really doesn't drink coffee, yeah, stuff consisting from a mug. So how about a bake set?

SPEAKER_00

Like measuring cups and all that stuff? Yeah. She'd like that. Pans and she would like it even more if it came with one of her grandkids baking with her. She might even like it if I baked with her. I bet she would. I think she would.

SPEAKER_01

My mom would love me to bake with her. So I'm also YF too, so. Um yeah, I think I would buy her a bake set. I feel like she has what she needs, but if she needed something, yeah, I'd buy her something. Last but not least for this list, a towel warmer. No. I think my mom might actually like this one. Yeah. I feel like mom might like that one. I don't know where she would put it though. I think my mom, she's got a place, like everything has its place. This, I feel like, like they just upgraded, they just got a robot vacuum. So that's pretty cool in their house. Um so, mom, it is going to be bow. Maybe like three foot tall, I'm gonna guess. Maybe about two of your shark vacuum's width. I guess you can probably find a corner, but I don't really think there's a spot for it. It's a pretty big spot. Yeah. Alright. Thank you, Forbes, for that.

SPEAKER_00

Alright. Should we jump into the wild card?

SPEAKER_01

Let's dive in, shall we?

SPEAKER_00

And welcome to this week's segment of the wildcard. Alright. Today's wildcard question. If you could choose a mom from a TV series or a movie, who would it be?

SPEAKER_01

Well, there's Kitty Foreman. She's got some spunk, right? From that 70s show. Yeah. Remember, if I could choose, right? But in all seriousness, um, I couldn't think of one. So then I looked online and it was gonna be between two gals. Be Reba from her show Reba. Um Firecracker, but she was also like the mom that was down to earth too. Single mom helping her kids out. So it's like that. That's she was a good mom on that show. And then the second one, the more I kept reading it, I'm like, yeah, this is like my mom, but like on steroids, okay? We make the joke about my mom. And it's not true that she goes this far because it's not. But we always joked with her. Those of you that know, the old spice commercials from back in the day. There is a mom that sings to her son, but he's he's not there, but she's following him, kind of stalking him a little bit, right? Uh, because now he's wearing old spice, he's turning into this man, he's looking for girls now, and yeah. So we we always joked with her about that. But Beverly Goldberg, she she's like my mom on steroids, so I'd have to choose her. And I just thought I would read what this website had as a description for her so people kind of knew of her, because I'm sure a lot of people aren't gonna know who she is. So, Beverly Goldberg, this mother is known for her over-the-top displays of affection, outrageous wardrobe, and unyielding belief in her children's greatness. Like, it is over-the-top, it's funny. Her fierce love and protective nature may occasionally cross boundaries, but she remains an endearing sorry, an endearing presence and an unforgettable force within her family's lives. Her unwavering devotion to her children, coupled with her ex her eccentricities and unabashed confidence, solidifies her place as one of the television's most memorable and beloved moms. So, yeah, I I think if I had to choose the one that'd be like my mom would probably be Beverly Goldberg. Yeah. How about you, man?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I think I just kind of picked uh uh I can't remember. Jill Taylor from Home Improvement. Did you? Yeah, because it's like she has three boys. Um her husband does a lot of home projects and a lot of stuff goes wrong. Um, so it's like, you know, I I feel like it's not that far-fetched. She was kind of an average normal mom, I would say. Um so that that was probably more relatably close to what I had at home. Like she kind of seemed like the sane one in that show. Um, not that like my dad was crazy or anything like that, but just uh life gets crazy, and I guess being on this end of you know a family where you're you're the parent seeing that and not getting all worked up with people's emotions and stuff where their sky's falling, and you just kind of have to be like, hey, you know, everything's gonna be alright. And I feel like that's kind of what she was, just kind of reminding everybody, like, hey, we got this going on, and this project needs done, or we need to do this, and yeah. Just a staple mom, you know. So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But also I feel like she was probably a little tough too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. Which with boys I think most moms have to be tougher. Yeah, yeah. So yeah. But there's love, but don't push the boundaries.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And then I tried to think of like other shows and stuff where it's like moms, I don't know. I'm trying to think of one that I think I thought of the Waltons, like that old show, and I was like, I don't know, man. I feel like I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I I feel like Or Carol Ingalls from Lost the Prey. I almost felt like her demeanor, her demeanor and personality was different than like what my mom was.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and I was like, eh, but if she had a boy first, would that have been the same to me? I mean, it it could have very well been, but I I don't know. I think the Waltons is probably the thing where I'm just like, that was a mom that was very busy, had boys and stuff, but like the nice thing was about that is like she made time for each one of her kids and stuff. And I'm not saying my mom didn't, but I I feel like there's things where I didn't go to my mom, whereas like when you watch the Waltons, like they all just fully like go to their parents with any and every concern they have, which isn't bad. That's a really good thing that especially now as a parent, I really want but uh when I was a kid, I mean I didn't, um, which was probably really stupid of me because you know, trying to figure out life on your own when you don't really have to is making it harder than you have to, but right, um, so yeah, I don't know. I because I'm like, yeah, you know, my mom very well could have been the Miss Walton or you know, whatever, Ingalls, but it was like her her kid wasn't that, so you know, yeah. And I don't think I would want like my mom would ask me how my day and stuff was, but like I wouldn't want a mom that pried on all that. So it was just kind of uh my day was fine, and she would like my mom would let things lie, I guess, which was nice. She gave me my space, yeah. So obviously, if I was in trouble, you know, you gotta answer, but exactly, yeah. So, but yeah, I feel like my mom was especially like when I got older and stuff, like she was very respectful, and um at the same time, if there was just like there's a line where it's like, okay, I am the parent and you have to do this stuff. So but I feel like when we were younger we learned a lot of that stuff, and just if your mom says it, do it.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, yeah, treat your mama well. Yeah. Hopefully, this was a fun episode. Hopefully it was uplifting, and uh hopefully we honored you, moms, and uh I really did enjoy this episode. And men, your call to action this week is taking care of your moms, do something for her. She did a whole lot for you, including giving birth. So the least you can do is get her at least a card.

SPEAKER_00

And if you're a dad, yep, she's not your mom, but she's your wife, and she's the mother of your children. So take care of her, honor her.

SPEAKER_01

And on that note, thank you for listening to this is day show. Don't forget to stay. Thank you.
